From "Global Blackness" to "Common Diversities"
Events in May 2026
Dear friends, dear colleagues and all interested,
Numerous events will be taking place this month as part of "Rumble in the Archive". In the following, find those happening in early May.
The "Global Blackness" workshop on 2 May, organised by the Alkebulan Association, explores dimensions of being Black. Joining as a facilitator and speaker: Gana Ndiaye, Assistant Professor of Ethnicity, Race and Migration at Yale University, USA. Open to all; registration is required.
"Memory, Restitution and Indigenous Futures": this congress on 6–7 May is organised by the Fundación Pueblo Kawésqar. In one session, Rumble partner Francisco González will do a guided tour on 150 years of Swiss presence in Patagonia in the Rumble room (Thursday, 10:00). All sessions can be attended individually; for some, registration is appreciated.
As part of the "Rumble Residents Select" film series, "Daughters of the Dust" will be screened on the evening of 7 May. Salim Umar, who selected the film, will introduce it briefly.
"Common Diversities – Diaspora in Dialogue" on 9 May, organised by studiyo filipino, is a combination of a reading, a panel discussion and a participatory workshop, focussing on issues of identity, migration, visibility and cultural self-representation. Registration is appreciated.
And for everybody spontaneous: today (30 April) at 6 pm, there will be a guided tour in the Rumble space.

Later in May, studiyo filipino will invite you to its biannual symposium, an edition entitled "Tastes and Tongues" (30.5).
In June, Zunft zur Diversität (Diversity Guild) will organize a panel discussion on the topic of "Wer bestimmt die Stadt?" ("Who determines the city?") (6.6).
Tours take place every last Thursday at 6 pm: 28 May, 25 June, 30 July and 27 August.
